Drake Beach

Somewhere along this coastline Sir Francis Drake anchored in the summer of 1579 and claimed the territory for Queen Elizabeth I. He called the land  "Nova Albion". He remained here for a month to make repairs to his ship, the Golden Hind and to prepare for his westward crossing of the Pacific.
